In addition to our own OEM technologies our consumables are made available through partnerships with global OEMs who supply only the very best drilling consumables.  Our solutions are customised to support the engineering requirements of the operation. Directional Drilling

MACROMEC

The STS MACROMEC is revolutionary upgrade of the legacy Modular Electrically Connected Cable Assembly (MECCA) system that allows electrical connectivity between a downhole instrument and an uphole computer. This product is an STS propriety MACROMEC Assembly.

The MACROMEC has been developed in response to industry feedback indicating the need for a more reliable product that is easier to install.

The MACROMEC removes legacy operational issues such as mechanical and electrical installation failures, prohibits the ingress of moisture into the MECCA circuit and greatly improves the data flow between the downhole instrument and the operator’s console. It is a system capable of being installed, recovered and reinstalled multiple times.

• Reduces funds spent on installations
• Improves reliability
• Drills more metres and makes more money due to hardware availability and optimised survey tool utilisation
• Faster provision of data to the operator allows quicker and more accurate coal seam surveying
• Removes risk of failure. Legacy MECCA systems fail during drilling and all rods need to be pulled back. MACROMEC will not fail in the same circumstances.

MICROMEC

The STS MICROMEC is an STS proprietary technology borne from the same ethos as the MACROMEC, however this technology was designed for use with smaller diameter drill pipe, such as the AWJ rod sizing.

MICROMEC now offers a genuine alternative to operational teams that seek to use pneumatic over hydraulic drill rigs and still achieve a digital survey. MICROMEC makes redundant the proven, yet dated, technologies such as the manual Eastman camera systems.

This product seeks to remove all musculoskeletal injuries that underground teams encounter while performing manual analogue compass bearings. Now all holes can be digitally surveyed either during excavation or post-excavation, in areas that require programs for old holes. They can now be re-surveyed with digital instruments, to comply with best practices.
